The United
States confirmed their favoritism in Tennis competitions with a total of 4
medals, 3 gold. Tennis and Shooting were the fourth most medalled USA sport in
London's olympics. The Americans won 3 of 5 events and reached the podium in 4
events, missing the podium in the men's singles event. MEN. The United States
dominated the doubles competition through brothers Bob and Mike Bryan whom
secured the gold medal. However, the United States didn't win medal in the
singles competition. WOMEN. The United States again took advantage of the
Williams sisters to dominate the women competitions. Serena Williams secured
the gold medal in the singles event easily defeating Russia's Maria Sharapova.
Additionally, She joined forces with her sister Venus to secure the gold medal
again in doubles event, as in 2000 and 2008. MIXED. The mixed doubles
competition returned to the Olympic program after it has been played for the
last time in 1924. The United States were favorites to win the gold medal, but
the best USA pair, Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan, won only the bronze medal.
Overall, the United States conducted a great showing, winning 4 medals, 3 Gold,
in 5 events of the Tennis' program.
